Bingo Halls and casinos must be regularly supplied with food and drink and companies have to employ people to process and deliver these products. The gaming industry spends millions annually on advertising and marketing creating thousands of jobs in advertising and telecommunications.

The gaming industry is poised for even more expansion in the near future which will create even more desperately needed jobs. V the head of gaming company Genting UK discussed the current state of the UK gaming industry. Genting predicted that changes in the industry could create thousands of new jobs. Genting said that the gaming industry’s priority should be the “the modernisation of gaming.” Currently Genting has 44 casinos in the UK including several new casinos. About modernisation Brooks stated “We don’t want it to be intimidating and male-dominated, we want to be seen as a genuine leisure choice. This is where casino should be in the 21st Century.”

Brooks says the gaming industry should pay taxes, create jobs and cater to many types of customers including casual players, high rollers and tourists. Brooks explained and said “We want to demystify casinos, but we mustn’t create a rowdy environment where people don’t want to gamble. So here (at the company Palm Beach Casino in London), people can just drink, or migrate to the gambling area.  We hope we’re getting the model right.” In addition to running Genting Brooks has been very proactive in the gambling industry. Brooks has lobbied government figures such as Minister John Penrose on the issue of responsible gaming and many other issues facing the UK gaming industry. Brooks believes the government should allow the gaming operators to expand into different regions. Brooks stated “This chimes with the government’s localism agenda and could create several thousand new jobs by allowing casinos to be built where there is local demand,”

Brooks also said he hopes that the government review of the UK gaming industry tax structure will not raise taxes for operators. Brooks suggested that the UK gaming industry is having a hard time competing with other countries such as China and Singapore and believes tax breaks will help the UK gaming industry. The UIK government has already announced that internet gambling sites taking wagers from UK residents must obtain a UK gaming license and pay taxes. Most experts see further industry growth and job creation this year.
