Bingo Charity Games in Essex Help Cancer Patients
The game of bingo does much more than provide entertainment. In many cases, bingo serves an
important purpose when raising money for charities. When the game first became popular, it was played in churches, and the proceeds were used to host social events for parishioners and cover repair costs for the building. Today, while bingo has become a very popular commercial game, it also maintains its roots in providing money for charitable causes. Many online bingo operators and land-based halls regularly host charity bingo games, and now, breast cancer survivor Della Hancock is taking it to great lengths.
Ever since she was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago, Ms. Hancock has been dedicated to raising £250 000 for the Lady McAdden breast screening unit. She has made it her purpose to help other patients who are suffering from the disease, and she plans to do so with bingo.
Although Ms. Hancock was treated privately when she had cancer, she wanted to use her experience to benefit a charity. “Lots of my friends use Lady McAdden for screening,” she said. “I think it’s a worthy cause. “
On Friday, September 11, Ms. Hancock – also a free bingo fan, will be hosting a women’s Bingo Night at the Civic Hall in Grays. Proceeds from the event will benefit the screening unit, which needs £250 000 for a new mammography machine. This will be the third in her series of charity bingo events, and local residents are encouraged to support the cause.
